Price changes for chicken
Well we processed our first birds on Saturday, including 10 Delaware's...
The adverage weight for them was 2 pounds so they look like cornish game hens, so we will hold off doing any more for at least a month, we would like them to be around 3 1/2 pounds finished weight.
Seems that if it could go wrong it did, we had one problem after another but got through it and come out with some nice Cornish birds adveraging 4.50 pounds.
So if you consider the Delaware birds at 11 weeks were 2 pounds and the Cornish birds at 9 weeks were 5.40 pounds...quite a difference.
We have also decided to REDUCE our price a bit, we like to do our best for our customers and yet encourage people to help us save the endangered species, so we will reduce our price for the Delaware birds to $4.00 per pound and reduce the Cornish birds to $3.50 per pound.
It will take a while to get all of our prices lists updated but we will pass on the savings to our customers as they purchase the birds.
We do have quite a waiting list for birds so if you want chickens from us, you would be well advised to get your order in now, especially for the turkeys.
I heard a rumor last week that Wychwood in North Stonington would not be doing turkeys this year, that is about 1000 customers who will be looking for their Thanksgiving birds elsewhere. I must call George this week to see if the man who works for him was right.
Cheers,
Craig
