Pork orders
We have been blown away with pork orders....THANK YOU !!!
Therefore we are now working on December 2007, but we are doing something to increase our production.
As I have said before it takes a really long time for our pigs to come to weight because they are happy pigs, running around outside never confined, ect.
With the award of the Ct Dept of Ag grant we will be gettingmore houses for them, increasing their pasture size and number of paddocks.
Most importantly we are looking in to a comercial hog feeder, these are VERY expensive, about $800.00 plus $400.00 shipping as they are very heavy. A commercial feeder in the piglet paddock would allow us to keep feed available to them all the time.
The construction of a road in out piggy pasture would aloow us to seperate the pigs so that the littler ones don't have competition from the big girls and Perry for food, ie: they would get more food, it will also allow us to better maintain how much feed we give to pregnant sows, Mom's with babies and Perry the Dad of all our piglets.
Just wanted to keep you all posted on what we are doing here and why.
We also hope to have word on our Certified Humane Certification for our pigs by mid Feb.
Cheers,
Craig
